Okay everybody, hold on to your hats for this news. I purchased a new pair of running leggings while at Target on Thursday. Not that I am getting rid of my old favorites- you don't just give up on a good pair of leggings after 19 years of use. I figure they have a good 6 years left... yep, 25 years seems just about right. Anyway, my high school leggings are now in the backup position, only to be brought out in case of emergency. God bless 'em.
Thought I'd write about one of the cute things my boys do. They really, really like helping me carry in the groceries, but since I use re-usable cloth bags, they are always super full and heavy. So, I grab a loaf of bread or something else light and throw it in a bag all by itself for the boys to carry in. They are so proud to be helping mommy, and of course, I make a big deal over it. I am laying the foundation, my friends, for the day when they carry everything in and eventually take over all household chores. It could happen. They also take turns over who gets to bring in the trash can and recycling bins after pick-up, and who gets to bring in the newspaper from the driveway. I love their enthusiasm for helping around the house.
Brandon had his last day of soccer this morning. They had a little medal ceremony at the end. I thoroughly enjoyed soccer this fall, so now we are just deciding between T-ball and soccer for the spring. I'm all about the arrival of organized sports for the boys. Not that I'll ever be some sort of crazy sports parent, pushing them to specialize in one sport... I just love to see them building a love of sports and exercise, since those things are a big part of my life.
Our house is in a pristine state at the moment. I don't expect it to last long. Our friends Ellen and Phil and their kids are coming over for dinner tonight, so it was a good kick in the butt to make me clean and pick up some toys. I try to do a thorough cleaning every two weeks, but I'm not so good at keeping on schedule. I've got bigger fish to fry than keeping a clean house, like maintaining this blog for example. Priorities, people, priorities. I'm going to go read for about 30 minutes, then I'm going to start assembling tonight's lasagna and salad. This is my off day for the week for exercising, but there will be a big old bike ride in my future tomorrow. Can't wait.
